Legless lizard (Anniella pulchra pulchra) non-chin end

California Legless lizard (Anniella pulchra pulchra).Notice it has scales instead of belly plates. Not definitive but certainly suspicious. I was told that if it was a snake the anal plates would be important for identification puposes. If I'd known it was a Lizard I never would have subjected it to this indignity.
