Accidentally Thought Provoking Comment May Cost News Personality Career.

In what was intended to be the sort of thoughtlessly light-hearted humorous comment we all expect from morning television, well known morning news anchor Kelly Simpson, has jeopardized her career and elicited a storm of protest.

Disturbed viewers reported the unwanted intrusion of an enlightened world-view which lead to

• difficulty focusing on the sordid details of their vapid lifestyle
• trouble formulating improbable sexual fantasies involving coworkers
• petty problems involuntarily being measured against real problems of the less fortunate

Normally, with a situation as grave as that in the Middle East, we would caution our news people against attempting comment. But, Kelly’s never given us reason to suspect she was capable of this sort of unwanted analytical commentary.

The incident has even affected the program’s veteran writing staff, who have seen little success recently writing stories about people more than one hundred years old, lost hippos, dogs stranded on ships, or anything having to do with celebrity marriages.
